Some highlights of the week
The last few days of school have arrived so fast and it is great to see how the children can express themselves, their learning, their ideas and their needs among their friends and their teachers.
Here are some of the highlights of playing.
Building Blocks
Ken, Antoine and Shayaan have been exploring building cubes with these letter blocks for a few days. At first, they all built individually but this only allowed them to make small cubes.
"I'm making two by two!
"...and I'm making two by 3."
"No, you make three by three then it's a square, a bigger square."
Theses were some of the phrases heard in their conversation as the played with these complex mathematical concepts.
Soon they decided they wanted to make four by four but quickly noticed that there were not enough letter blocks to complete individual four by four.
After some thinking and negotiation, they finally decided they would work together. They were very proud of their results.

Marble Runs
Different groups of children have spent time engaging with the marble runner. On Thursday, Gabe decided to take it to a bigger level. He soon drew the attention of his friends and together they constructed a super, large marble runner.
Zombie Cafe
At the beginning of the week, some children in Ms Karyn's class were engaged in creating a Zombie Cafe prompted by a student curiosity about a picture of a brain he had seen. Some children enjoyed the fun of using their acquired knowledge of letters and sounds to create Zombie menus to offer the cafe guests.
