Exploring new games with Grade 8

Last semester Grade 8 students came to EY to observe the students and interview the teachers as part of their course work and course work and inquiry into product design. They were on a quest to find out what young student really are, what they like, how they learn and what tools they use to facilitate play based learning in the Early Years classrooms.

This week we were able to reap the results of their findings. Games! Each student had created a product to engage a young learning and encourage development in an academic discipline area, eg. pre-mathematics, pre-literacy.

In 3 sessions and over 2days, the students set themselves up in EY and invited us to come play and learn.

As a risk-take and inquirer, Gabe wanted to find out if we could keep the games. Unfortunately, I couldn't answer that question. I asked Gabe if he could think of a way he could find the answer. Towards the end of the session, he was happy to tell announce that he knew what he could do :)

... And the answer to his question was - YES! Not right away, but that we would get the games in about a week after the students had completed their evaluations.

At the end of the first two sessions, we had a quick reflection on how much we liked the games that were offered to us. Using a living graph the children chose whether they like - ALL of the games, SOME of the games, or NONE of the games of the session. What does the data tell us about session one and two?
