Welcome back!

Dear Parents and Friends,

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. I trust you all had safe and relaxing holidays. It is so exciting to see the vigor for learning that our EY'ers have returned with and how eager they are to share their individual holiday stories. This lent itself very well to engage the children in activities to reviewed our first two concurrent units - Who we are and How we express ourselves. As we review our questioning skills the children are in the process of creating "My Holiday Story" books. Where - asks for a place, who - asks for a person, what - asks for (in this case) an action, and how helps us ask for more detail. These should be complete by the end of next week and on display for you to view.

A new class friend!

A big welcome to our new friend Mathilda! 
Mathilda has joined us from the international school of Dhaka. It's been wonderful to see how everyone has demonstrated the attributes of being caring and showing empathy which, in turn, has made Mathilda feel like she has always belonged. 

Gecko's Choice

Solving problems is directly connected to choice. We have a choice as to how we respond to voluntary or involuntary actions involving ourselves and others. Ms. Dee has started working with the class on understanding the application of Gecko's choice. 

Over the next few weeks, we will learn about the nine different ways we can respond to help solve a problem or conflict. 

This week we learned the meaning of the word 'conflict' and talked about how to tell someone to stop.

Calling for Mystery Readers!

Mystery readers have been a the highlight of our Friday mornings, and we would love for that to continue this semester. Please consider signing up to be our guest. February, March, April and May slots are all still vacant.

New Lunch Menu

There have been many changes small changes made to the school canteen lunch menu. If your child is a school lunch eater, please review the suggested meals and send your child's requests for all four menus to me as soon as possible. 
A correction to my message last week! - "We began the new semester with menu#1!" not as previously mention #3 - I apologise for that. 

Timetable 

Nothing has change to our timetable in general - Please remember to send your child to school with:

• A Healthy snack
• Two spare sets of clothes
• PE sports clothes on Tuesdays
• Swimsuit, towel, and optional goggles on Wednesdays
• Library book bag on Fridays

Please note the role is taken at 7.30am - If your child arrives after that time, they will be marked late.
